Alternate Designs

The use of non-standard materials is under consideration by PVHO. Concrete is one material being considered and the nuclear concrete containment code is being used as a guideline for its use in hyperbaric chambers.  A flexible fabric chamber for single-patient emergency transport has been designed and manufactured in accordance with ASME/PVHO codes and seeking exemption from some PVHO rules which regulate pressure vessel construction materials.  At the time, 1999, these vessels are marked for “Emergency Use Only.”  Introduction of lightweight, non-standard materials allows for easily transportable devices that can be set up anywhere.
