HPP is a non-thermal pasteurization method that can be applied to cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. This processing reduces any pathogenic microbes and drastically reduces spoilage. Shelf life of the products greatly increases.
For vaccines, HPP kills pathogens, bacteria and viruses but maintains the antigen response. It makes possible new hypoallergenic formulations with fewer preservatives. The process also allows for the disaggregation and controlled renaturalization of therapeutic proteins.
