Liver Problems

Liver problems can result from viral or bacterial infections, secondary to pharmaceutical toxicity and recreational drug toxicity.  Fungal disease, lymphomas Hepatitis A or B are all opportunistic infections associated with hepatic disorders in patients with AIDS that cause elevated liver enzymes.

HBOT decreases elevated liver enzymes.  In acute liver failure, comas have been reversed and ammonia levels reduced with HBOT.  HBOT is effective in maintaining normal liver enzyme levels throughout the course of treatment.  HBOT is recommended as adjunctive treatment in opportunistic infections requiring hepatotoxic drugs and in the treatment of recreational or pharmaceutical-induced liver toxicity.
